David Conquers The Inca Trail

ISV’s resident adventurer and Head of Customer Services, David Little, has completed his latest charity challenge.

Earlier this month, David completed a trek along the infamous Inca Trail in Peru, ultimately reaching the ruins of the iconic citadel Machu Picchu.

The trek took 4 days and covered an impressive 82km, following the route the Incas would have taken hundreds of years ago. David’s highlights included climbing and reaching the peak of the dubiously named Dead Woman’s Pass. At 4,215m (13,828ft) in altitude, the summit is the highest and often most dreaded on the Inca Trail.  This achievement was only matched by seeing the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu appearing through the clouds on the trail.

Fundraising

David took on this challenge to help raise much-needed funds for Salisbury District Hospital, specifically the Stars Appeal Cardiac Care Unit. The trip was self-funded so all donations are going straight to the charity, which, at the time of writing is approaching an impressive £3000. An incredible amount of money, gratefully received by both the charity and David.

The Stars Appeal is quite literally close to David’s heart since he was diagnosed with a heart condition at the age of 22. Despite regular visits to the cardiac unit, this doesn’t hold David back. He can add Machu Picchu and Peru to previous challenges which include scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and the 3 Peaks Challenges (climbing the 3 highest peaks in the UK in just 2 days!)

We at ISV Software are really proud of you David, and glad to have you back in one piece! There’s still time to donate via David’s JustGiving page – Your support is much appreciated and will give valuable support to the charity.
