Typing Skills Tests

When it comes to typing, speed matters. But so does accuracy, and the vast majority of clerical and secretarial type positions will require a good standard in both. As a result, employers looking to hire employees with these key skills frequently turn to ISV.Online to ensure that candidates hired for these type of roles are able to deliver on both criteria.

Skills tests results are presented in many ways. There isn't always a pass mark

Whether you want to test one person or thousands of people, we can help! ISV has been providing assessment and measuring solutions since 1992. Our portfolio of content and features continues to grow rapidly, as our clients’ feedback drives development and enhancements throughout our business.

Typing skills are required in a variety of roles. ISV.Online test cover:

  • Copy Typing Skills
In some employment samples, copying information quickly and accurately is key. Our portfolio of copy typing tests cover industry specific language, legal and medical typing skills.

  • Audio Typing Assessment
Some of our most popular skills tests involve audio typing skills. These measure an individual’s ability to listen and retype information.
With the audio spoken at different speeds, you can cover more advanced or capable typing speeds. Again, we offer tests than include vocabulary associated with a variety of sectors including specific legal and medical audio typing tests.
The audio is spoken at 80, 90 or 100 words per minute (wpm).

  • Audio Data Entry Assessment
Audio Data entry assessments measure an individual’s ability to key in data by assessing their speed and accuracy in doing so. Individuals taking the test will hear fictitious audio information and will need to enter the details as quickly and accurately as possible in the relevant screens. These tests are ideal for contact centre recruitment. There are industry specific audio data entry tests. You can choose from different industry sectors for your audio data entry tests including Financial, Retail, Travel and Insurance.
ISV.Online also includes a range of Data Entry assessments, whereby the candidate will see the fictitious data on screen and are required to re-type this in according in the correct boxes.

How are skills tests scored and what is the pass mark?

ISV.Online numeracy skills tests and other online assessments can be used by many industries for many purposes, we don’t simply show a pass mark, rather ISV.Online gives you a detailed assessment overview with percentile rankings, productivity and quality measurements of the overall assessment discipline. Our productivity measures input speed such as WPM score, or KDPH scores. The quality is measured as a percentage of quality. This allows you to quickly analyse the result, decide upon your own benchmark of the balance between speed of typing and quality of typing.

What other skills assessment tests are typically taken alongside typing assessments?

In many situations, the hiring organisation will require more than just typing skills. ISV.Online tests cover a huge range of areas, with numeracy and literacy tests regularly being taken alongside typing assessments.

Companies don’t just hire based on “hard skills” however. ISV.Online offer a wide variety of personality and reasoning tests designed to help the hiring organisation decide how well a potential candidate will fit in a role and, indeed, in the wider organisation.
